Kirby Lakitsky showed today why you never doubt anyone you are riding with. The 26 year old rider from Team MillHan rode to victory in the Plettenberg-Bergkamen race today. He stayed with the leaders all the way to the end. The pace was forced by MillHan and as teams and riders dropped away from the lead group Lakitsky made his move. After the race his teammates showered him with champange. MillHan had been in a little drought as of late with no top finishes and no wins. That was changed this week by Lakitsky and Cong Yutao. Yutao finished 3rd in the Kiddesvej Grandprix. The team rested its top three riders and sent the younger guys out.
Deac Mill had this to say. "I have to say I am suprised that we won. I'm so proud of the guys they have raced in 3 events this week and showed today what hard work can do for your team. I'm not suprised that Kirby was able to win, just that we controled the race so well and still had enough left to launch him to the win."
Kirby Lakitsky was asked how he felt about his first win. "Its an unbelievable experience. I am so grateful for the opportunity to ride for Team MillHan. I know that great things are still to come for this team and I am so glad to be a part of it."
The team is scheduled to ride in the upcoming Gelsenkirchen-Dortmund race next. Richard Pinson who was recently placed on the transfer list will not be riding for Team MillHan. He has been replaced by teammate Jasper Scales. Carlton Speers will get his first chance in some time to captain the team. Cong Yutao who has been the best performer on the team will ride second wheel.
